UPDATE: Version 3.6 - Graphics Update! I have replaced my old, shabby
hieroglyphics with a new set of cleaner ones. Also check out the blue screen after
the ending as it has had a small graphics update as well.
UPDATE: Version 3.5 Slight changes
to the clock. There is now no space between each flipper exept the division of minutes
and seconds. Also you may find that typing the word 'credits' into the computer
will now return a message.
Introduction...
The program available at this site is a simulation of the computer and countdown
timer featured in season 2 of abc's LOST. Enclosed in this page are instructions
on how to get it to work properly. Enjoy the simulator and email all highscores
to my email which is displayed when you open the program. Make sure you include
a screen shot.
Requirements...
-Windows PC. (Recommended XP.)
-Must have .NET framework 2.0 installed. Download
here.
-Required screen resolution 1024 X 768
How to use...
1. Download and extract the zip file. Make sure all the contents listed toward
the bottom of this page are there.
2. Put the exe file wherever. (Desktop recommended.) Put the wav files IN
THE ROOT OF YOUR C: DRIVE. Sound effects will NOT work unless the files are located
here with their original names. To get to the C: Root, open 'My Computer' and type
'C:\' in the address bar. Put palatino_lost.ttf in the systems font folder. (C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\)
Make sure it installs successfully.
3. Open the exe file and the countdown timer will appear and start counting
down from 108 minutes.
4. When the clock hits 004:00, a fake DOS prompt will appear. Type in the
numbers and press enter. Clock will start again from 108:00.
5. When you fail to enter the numbers and allow the clock to reach zero, you
will hear the magnet power up. The hieroglyphics will appear 1 by 1 until it is
time for the last one. You will then experience 'system failure' Windows style...
Press any key to continue and you will get 'PRINT LOG?' Type 'y' and view your stats.
For more info check out the
V4 info page.
NOTES...
-The clock cannot be moved and it will always be on top of every other window.
If you want to move it click on the first number flipper and a border will appear
around it. You can drag it like any other window. Click the first flipper again
to put it back into nonmovable mode.
-Neither the clock nor the DOS box has an exit button. You can close them
using the Alt+F4 method. Or click the first of the five numbers to bring it into
movable mode then you can click the x to close.
-If you wish to see what happens when it hits zero but wish to bypass the 4 minutes
of beeping, type 'end' into the prompt and press enter.
-The complete list of effects is as followed: beep sound every two seconds
when clock is below 4min, alarm sound when clock is below 1min, key press
sound when you press 'enter' or 'return', and a sweet sequence at 0:00
